Look for a moving company who will offer contract pricing. Look for a moving company who supplies you with a copy of “Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move” brochure.
Be leery of a moving company who offers their services at a suspiciously low price. Many times they will give you a low price to lure you in as a customer. Then, upon completion of the move, they will charge you a price much greater than originally quoted.

2. Overall Reputation
References should be available upon request.
Reputable moving companies have key personnel who have been in business over 10 years and are members of local, state and federal moving associations in good standing.
Reputable moving companies have to be licensed and insured.

3. Valuation Options & Claim Settlements
Minimal Protection is the most economical option, offering minimal protection at no additional cost. Claims for lost or damage items are based on weight of the item multiplied by 60 cents per pound.
Full Value Protection: When you select this option, articles that are lost, damaged or destroyed will be either repaired, replaced with articles of like kind and quality, or a cash settlement will be made. $5,000 coverage or $5.00 multiplied by the total weight of the shipment in pounds, whichever is greater, is the minimal declared value for this protection.
What are the other moving company’s limits? Do they impose a deductible? Can they provide proof of coverage?
Ask the moving company how they handle claims. Will they provide you with references from former customers who had to file a claim? Are they reasonable and fair when they settle a claim?

4. Quality of Their Movers & Equipment
Are their movers trained and experienced?
Will their men be well-spoken, hardworking, clean and trustworthy?
Are their trucks clean, well maintained and appropriately equipped?
